Israel's 2026 turnout: how to read the reports through the day, against 2022
Nehemia Gershuni-Aylho · Published
Polls are open today from 07:00 to 22:00, and the Central Elections Committee publishes the national turnout several times through the day. Each report is compared with the same hour in past elections — and that comparison says more than the number itself.
Turnout now
The chart updates with every Central Elections Committee report, against the same hour in 2022, with an estimate for the close of polls.
2022, hour by hour
In the 25th Knesset election (1 November 2022) the committee reported 15.9% at 10:00, 28.4% at 12:00, 38.9% at 14:00, 47.5% at 16:00, 57.7% at 18:00 and 66.3% at 20:00. At 22:00 it announced 71.3%, and the official final turnout, double envelopes included, was 70.63%.
In the five elections of 2019–2022 final turnout ranged from 67.44% (2021) to 71.46% (2020). By 14:00, about half of the day's voters had voted in each (51%–55%), and by 20:00 between 90% and 94%.
Why turnout matters for the result
Turnout differs sharply between communities. In 2022 it was 73.4% at Haredi stations and 52.8% at Arab stations. At Jewish non-Haredi stations it was 54.2% in socio-economic cluster 2 and 70.6% in cluster 10.
So a shift of a few points in one community can move seats and decide who passes the threshold — even when the national figure barely moves.
